“New orchards will also come into production this coming season,” stresses Mr. Chondroudis. He explains that “Almost 300 ha of Jingold kiwi have been planted in Greece so far. The plan is to keep growing according to the needs of the market, which for the time being is on the rise. We aspire to establish ourselves as a reference point for yellow, red, and green kiwi, not only among producers but also among all professionals in the field, building relationships of trust and offering a reliable, high-quality product.”
The upcoming season will be the third for marketing Jingold kiwifruit produced in Greece. Mr. Chondroudis comments on the previous season as follows: “This was the second production year of kiwi from Jingold growers in Greece with very positive results for the entire collaborating network (growers, packing house, and the company). The quality of the fruits was excellent, with high dry matter, a characteristic that highlights the taste superiority of our product. The yields per acre were very satisfactory, which underscores the potential of our varieties.”
As for prices paid to growers in the season that recently concluded, the general manager of Jingold Greece says: “In a commercially difficult year, we managed to increase the grower income by 10 cents per kilo compared to the previous year. Grower prices ranged from 2,05 – 2,50€/kg for an average fruit weight of 100gr and based on the amount of dry matter.”
