Agricultural Excellence Celebrated at EU-Funded ‘Oracando’ Event in The Netherlands
On May 19th, 2025, the Producers Association of the Agricultural Cooperative of Chania, Greece, organized a distinguished press event for the ongoing 3-year “Oracando” campaign at Café Clementine (Spoorlaan 7, 2991 LM Barendrecht, Netherlands). This event was part of the EU-funded “Oracando” program aimed at raising awareness about the exceptional quality and unique characteristics of European PDO oranges and avocados in the Netherlands and Denmark.
The event gathered a diverse group of journalists, health professionals, importers, lifestyle influencers, and distributors, providing a platform to experience firsthand the superior taste and stringent quality standards of these European fruits.
The General Manager of the Agricultural Cooperative of Chania, Mr. Sifis Manoledakis, warmly welcomed the attendees, underlining the Cooperative’s commitment to excellence and the importance of promoting authentic Greek agricultural products in international markets. He stressed that such initiatives are vital to strengthening the ties between producers and consumers and ensuring transparency, sustainability, and top quality in every fruit delivered.
A special honor was the presence of Apostolos Michalopoulos, Head of the Economic and Commercial Affairs Office at the Embassy of Greece in The Hague, who highlighted the strategic importance of promoting Greek agricultural exports and strengthening trade relations between Greece and the Netherlands.
In his address, Mr. George Kornarakis, Commercial Director of the Agricultural Cooperative of Chania, shared detailed insights about the production, traceability, and sustainability practices that underpin their premium PDO oranges and avocados. He emphasized the Cooperative’s dedication to authenticity, nutritional excellence, and environmental responsibility.
Attendees received a thoughtfully prepared media kit containing samples of the campaign’s oranges and avocados, a branded lunch box, an informative brochure, a thermos flask, and a branded apron, all designed to reinforce the high-quality message of the campaign.
