The frosty weather, as well as water issues, have resulted in lower kiwi production in Greece, says Apostolos Tsinoglou, owner of the Greek fruit exporter Europe Export: “From the first reports of early kiwi varieties, like Tsechelidis and Greenlight, harvesting has shown us that there is a reduction in production, certainly 20 per cent lower, or even more. The reduction can be explained by the March frost, as well as the challenges of dealing with water. In order to be able to satisfy all our existing customers as well as the new partnerships that we have started for this new season, we have developed new partnerships with more Greek established kiwi producers, to cover all the needs that our partners could have.”

Demand is quite good, and Tsinoglou states that their focus will be on the Latin American market, most of all. “When we look at demand, our company’s philosophy is that demand always has to do with the good quality of the products, the competitive price, and most importantly, the communication between our company’s human resources and the needs of our partners. As for the strong markets, Latin America is currently seen as the most important target, followed by European countries.”

Europe Export 2016 has focused on working with multiple kiwi producers, in order to still provide the quantities that their clients need, Tsinoglou explains: “Production on Greek soil is lower, but with new methods and new collaborations with various producers, we will aim to have the same momentum as we did last year, or even better. After our many years of experience in kiwi fruit, we have achieved an upward trend of 20 per cent every year when it comes to our exports, as is our aim this year with the early varieties. We’re looking forward to the Hayward variety, which should start on October 15th, to enter even more new markets with new partners.”

Next week, Tsinoglou will head to Madrid as an exhibitor. “We’ll be showcasing our brand Babyfruit 2016 during Fruit Attraction in Madrid. I will personally represent our company during the event and will have a little surprise waiting for our visitors,” he concludes.

Europe Export 2016 will be exhibiting during Fruit Attraction in Madrid. You can find their stand in Hall 8, stand 8D02/05.
